The whole purpose of having a social media account for your business is to attract more customers, gain followers and share your products. The first step is just creating a social media account… that is easy. But then comes the tricky part, creating content to post.

You may ask yourself, where do I start? Here are some tricks and tips to create engaging content for your audience..

Know Your Audience:

  • Understanding your target audience is the first step to creating engaging content. Ask yourself, who is my ideal customer and how do I get their attention? Take a look at your followers, is there a pattern or theme? Are they mostly women, men.. Age group? What about where they live, are they local, tourists?
  • Develop buyer personas to identify the interests, preferences, and challenges of your audience. Sit down and think of your perfect customer, who are they, what do they like and what are they going through? Use those answers to come up with a rough idea of your audience.

Research Trending Topics:

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and popular topics relevant to your audience. This may mean going to other business pages and seeing what is working for them. New trends start somewhere so why not utilize the platform and look at your competitors. Of course you do not want to copy anyone, but a trend is a trend, make it unique and add your own flair to it!
  • Use tools like Google Trends and social media analytics to discover what’s currently resonating. Need some help on how to use these tools? We can guide you through it, just let us know!

Craft Compelling Headlines:

  • A catchy headline is the key to grabbing attention. Make it clear, intriguing, and relevant to your content. For example, spring is coming so you could start out the initial post with, “Are you blooming with creativity?” or “Blossom into savings this spring season!” or “Time for some a refresh, dust off winter!”
  • Use power words and create a sense of urgency when appropriate. Nothing stands out more than intriguing words. For example, “Get yours today, before it’s too late!” or “Limited space available, do not wait!” Using words like, “powerful,” “essential,” and “trending.”

Tell Stories:

  • Narratives create a connection. Share stories that resonate with your audience’s experiences and emotions. This will improve your connection with the audience and make them feel like they know more about you or your business.
  • Use storytelling to illustrate points, making your content more relatable. Making your content realistic and giving your audience more personal information will make them trust you and what you are selling or promoting.

Visual Appeal:

  • Incorporate visually appealing elements such as images, infographics, and videos. Use real time photos showcasing your products, services, friendly faces and more! Relating your visuals to your business will also help make it feel inviting.
  • Break up text with subheadings and bullet points for easy readability. Making a graphic easy to read and understandable helps get your point across. You do not want to make things too busy… this can cause someone to keep scrolling and not stop to read your content.

Interactive Content:

  • Engage your audience with quizzes, polls, surveys, and interactive elements. This will help your audience feel like they are contributing to your business and show them you care!
  • Encourage comments, shares, and participation to foster a sense of community. The more interaction with your followers, the better response you will have!

Personalization:

  • Tailor your content to the individual preferences of your audience. Find those preferences through trial and error and interactive content (like above).
  • Use segmentation and personalization techniques to deliver content that feels customized. Stand out from others, use your branding and your personality to guide you!
